Tyler @ Multi-Hyphenate: Serenity Now!
Every Monday, I try to have a new post on my blogazine, Multi-Hyphenate. Surprisingly, I’m keeping up the trend. This week, I continue talking about the realities of a crowdfunding campaign, most notably what to do when you realize “this is out of my control now.”
Here’s an excerpt:
As I head into the final 26 days of the Whiz!Bam!Pow! campaign, there has been one nagging feeling that has been with me since day 45. The loss of control. For the months (years, in my case) leading up to the launch of the campaign, I was guiding the Whiz!Bam!Pow! ship, writing, designing, building. But when we hit that “Launch” button on October 20, that went out the door.
And then the question became — for the first time — “now what?”
Fortunately, as I slipped back into my non-profit Executive Director role (crowdfunding is a hybrid of micro-donation and angel investment (a term I use loosely, SEC)), I found myself willing to relinquish control. Not control in the dictatorial, Dr. Doom sense, but in the steering the ship sense. I know the boat will keep floating, but I was able to see further down the river before, avoiding rocks and changing course as needed fairly quickly.
Head on over to Multi-Hyphenate to read “Serenity Now” in its entirety!
