Whiz!Bam!2010!
Apologies for the lack of posting here, but since the end of our IndieGoGo campaign, Paul and I have been going great guns on the whole point of the campaign – making stuff. There’s a lot of writing to do, a lot of “next steps” to be figured out, and of course, a healthy dose of recuperation following the insanity of a crowdfunding campaign. Read more >>
WBP @ The Studio Source
The first Whiz!Bam!Pow! article of the post-IndieGoGo era! Many thanks to Stacey Cornelius of The Studio Source dot com for highting WBP, and for sharing her story about how comic books effected her. Read more >>
One Week To Go…
The past two weeks have been some of the most absolutely insane of my life – in a good way (mostly, but we’ll leave the minority out). Whiz!Bam!Pow! has been featured all over the place, and the outpouring of support has been absolutely astounding.
With a week left in the campaign, I thought it would be useful for those of you still on the fence about this project to have all of the press, interviews, blog posts, and articles about Whiz!Bam!Pow! all in one place – as opposed to having to click 50,000 different links around this site to find anything.
This list starts from Friday, November 12, and goes right up until today. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comment field below, or ask me directly on my VYou page, http://vyou.com/tylerweaver. Read more >>
WBP @ What’s the Word Jellybird?
We love surprises. And this was a big one – Kimba Green, a supporter of Whiz!Bam!Pow! and one of our heroes, wrote this wonderful post about WBP on her blog. It also talks about the unique advertising opportunities companies and individuals have with the WBP IndieGoGo campaign – thanks so much Kimba (AKA Wonder Woman!) Read more >>
Whiz!Bam!BlackFriday!
Since there are people in tents in front of Best Buy, we figured we’d get in on the action (seeing as how we’re avoiding Black Friday shopping like the plague) and give something back to anyone who becomes a Whiz!Bam!Pow! IndieGoGo hero: Read more >>
Tyler Returns on “Indy Film Wisconsin”
Tyler just made his return appearance on Wayne Clingman’s “Indy Film Wisconsin” (the site of his first Whiz!Bam!Pow! interview (way back in… October) to chat Whiz!Bam!Pow! progress, the IndieGoGo campaign, and creative responsibility. Many thanks Wayne (and to guest caller – and WBP supporter – Petra Cahill)!
Have a listen!
Why?
by TYLER WEAVER.
The act of running a crowdfunding campaign is a study of what works and what doesn’t. Neither phenomena are the same for each film (the only constant “doesn’t work” is “put your film out there, do nothing, and everyone will come because it’s so awesome.”) I evaluate what has worked on the Whiz!Bam!Pow! campaign and what hasn’t on a daily, sometimes hourly basis (they change that quickly). One thing I have seen is that while we have gone to great lengths to show you how cool this thing is, and give you some awesome incentives, I haven’t answered the question…

Tyler @ Multi-Hyphenate: Serenity Now!
Every Monday, I try to have a new post on my blogazine, Multi-Hyphenate. Surprisingly, I’m keeping up the trend. This week, I continue talking about the realities of a crowdfunding campaign, most notably what to do when you realize “this is out of my control now.”
Here’s an excerpt:
As I head into the final 26 days of the Whiz!Bam!Pow! campaign, there has been one nagging feeling that has been with me since day 45. The loss of control. For the months (years, in my case) leading up to the launch of the campaign, I was guiding the Whiz!Bam!Pow! ship, writing, designing, building. But when we hit that “Launch” button on October 20, that went out the door.
And then the question became — for the first time — “now what?”
Fortunately, as I slipped back into my non-profit Executive Director role (crowdfunding is a hybrid of micro-donation and angel investment (a term I use loosely, SEC)), I found myself willing to relinquish control. Not control in the dictatorial, Dr. Doom sense, but in the steering the ship sense. I know the boat will keep floating, but I was able to see further down the river before, avoiding rocks and changing course as needed fairly quickly.
Head on over to Multi-Hyphenate to read “Serenity Now” in its entirety!
